Due to unforeseen weather conditions, mainly the heatwaves that keep hitting the Alps this summer, the Tignes glacier has had to close early for summer skiing.

The last summer skiers accessed the glacier yesterday, Thursday, July 25th 2019. The extreme temperatures that the mountains have been experiencing make safety and snow conditions unsuitable for skiing on the glacier. This early closing comes only one week before the scheduled shutting time, on August 4th. The glacier will remain open for pedestrians until August 30th 2019 and will reopen for autumn skiing on September 28th 2019.
