Another dump of approximately 30cm of fresh snow at altitude, and around 20cm in town, fell yesterday and overnight in Tignes. The fresh snow was accompanied by strong winds that formed some very blustery blizzards and made driving to and from the resort particularly difficult.
The resort is slow to open this morning due to safety procedures from the local piste patrol but, once it opens, we are looking forward to riding plenty of fresh winter powder on the pistes. Watch out for wind-affected snow which has formed dangerous slabs off-piste and go with a qualified guide or instructor if you are planning a day away in the backcountry.
The temperatures are due to rise over the weekend before dropping again from Monday evening and another dusting is expected later in the week. Perfect timing for all those half-term holiday visitors.
