Next Friday, July 26th, the 19th stage of the 2019 Tour de France will take place in the Alps. Starting in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, the route goes through the Col de l'Iseran and Val d'Isère before finishing in Tignes.

The very much anticipated Alpine stage takes place two days before the final stretch of the Tour, which will see cyclists ride through the Parisian Champs Elysées on Sunday 28th. This stage includes the highest summit of the 2019 edition of the Tour de France, the Col de l'Iseran at 2770m, after a gruelling climb of almost 13km at a steepness of 7.5%.

On their way to Tignes, the peloton will go through a few other challenging cols, including the Category 3 Cote de Saint-Andre (1165m) and legendary Col de la Madeleine (1746m), and the Category 2 Montée d'Aussois (1467m). The final push, after the Col de l'Iseran, involves a challenging 7.4km at an average steepness of 7% from Tignes les Brevieres to Tignes Val Claret, after going through Val d'Isere.
