ESPN have cancelled the snowmobile freestyle exhibition from the line-up of events at this year's X Games in Tignes.

The decision was prompted by the tragic death of snowmobiler Caleb Moore who died as a result of injuries sustained at last month's X Games in Aspen, USA. Although Caleb initially walked away from the accident, he eventually slipped into a coma and died as a result of severe brain trauma and bleeding around the heart. He passed away on the 31st of January 20 in Colorado aged 25 years old.

The news comes just one week after the International Series of Champions canceled freestyle events and ESPN released the following statement yesterday: “Our review of snowmobile freestyle continues. In the meantime, we have decided to forego the planned demonstration freestyle event at X Games Tignes.”

The X Games in Tignes is the second in the series of six international X Games events in 2013. The skiing and snowboarding competition will take place in Tignes from March 20th - 22nd.
