Getting Around Guide

How to get around in Tignes

Updated

There's plenty going on in Tignes, so it pays to know how to get around.

Whether on foot or on the village shuttle there's a number of options.

About Local Buses in Tignes

Buses

Tignes has a free bus service that runs all day and into the early hours of the morning to take you around resort.

Driving around resort

Whilst it’s tempting to drive between Tignes' various resorts, parking can be difficult during peak seasons and it’s not exactly ideal for the environment. If you do drive, carpool when possible and ensure your vehicle has winter tyres or chains between late November and early April.

Taxis in resort

Taxis between Tignes and Val d’Isère run all through the day and night. We recommend booking in advance to ensure you can get one.

Biking around Tignes

Whilst Tignes attracts numerous mountain bikers and road bikers every summer, we wouldn't recommend pootling around on two wheels in the winter. Alternatively hop on a Dott scooter which can be found throughout resort.

On foot

Each one of the resort areas in Tignes are easy to walk around and it's possible to walk between some of them - in winter you can walk across the frozen lake from Le Lac. Alternatively, just jump on one of the numerous shuttle buses.
