The main road leading from Bourg St Maurice to Tignes and Val d'Isere was blocked last night after a major rock slide. The slide, which took place just before 7pm, hit the road at the entrance to the Brevieres tunnel.

Security teams and geologists were on site first thing this morning to assess the situation and are working hard to clear the debris. It is estimated that the route will remain closed at least until this evening.

UPDATE: Access has been resumed however security works will be ongoing, as such the road will closed on one lane and will effect traffic.
