Col du Petit Saint Bernard re-opens Friday

Weather permitting, the pass should re-open this week

We reported a few weeks ago that snow was keeping many of the mountain roads around Tignes closed, but it seems that the Col du Petit St Bernard should be open for the summer this weekend.

The weather this morning has thrown more snow at us, so the snow clearers now have a little more work to do, especially at an altitude of 2188 metres at the top of the col.

You can see from the photo above that the snow is still pretty deep along side the road, in places measuring between 4-5 metres.

We should see a bit of rain mid week and temperatures warming up towards the weekend, so the re-opening should hopefully go ahead as planned, on Friday 27th May at midday.
