Tignes is a magical place at Christmas and this year with the snowfall we have received, we are on par with the North Pole.

So of course this must be one of Santa Clause’s favourite places to visit and spread his Christmas cheer. However you celebrate this festive period, Tignes has a lot of events you can get involved in.

Where to get festive

What's on Tignes Christmas & New Year 2018/19

On Monday, Christmas Eve, the famous torchlit descent will take place in Les Brevieres, Val Claret and Le Lac. ESF instructors and pupils gather their torches and ski down the mountain, making a stunning light show for those in resort. Why not go outside with a hot chocolate to watch it.

On Christmas eve L’eglise de Tignes Le Lac church will have a non-mass celebration with Christmas songs and prayers, also at 17:30. Mass will take place in at 17:00 on Christmas Day.

The Christmas Day parade is not to be missed, it’s a huge surprise. It will travel from Val Claret at 17:30 to Le Lac and finish at 19:00.

On 26 December, there will be a dancing party on the ice rink in Le Lac. Ice skating on a natural lake is not easy, but so much fun and can be romantic too.

New Year's Eve is always spectacular in Tignes. The resort puts up a stage and throws the biggest pop-rock party on the snow front in Le Lac. This year there's a giant karaoke before the fireworks, so if you want to join in head down early.

Live bands and DJ’s have the entire resort rocking into the New Year from 23:00 to 01:00 on the highest dance floor in Europe.

At midnight Tignes treats us with a magical firework display.
