10 Great Reasons To Book a Christmas Ski Trip to Tignes

If you're still umm-ing and ah-ing about whether or not to book your ski trip early this winter, here's a few ideas that might make you think twice and get booking.

1) You can't get more festive and Christmassy than an Alpine ski resort in December

Turn up the dial to 110% on all things Christmas-related, because at the beginning of the ski season Tignes is bedecked with lights, Christmas trees, baubles, reindeer, Christmas jumpers and lots of red-rosy-cheeked visitors enjoying a glass or three of vin chaud. It's like Christmas on steroids to anything you might have planned at home, and then add a fireworks display on top.

2) Some other poor souls get lumbered with the cooking & the washing up

Chances are you'll be staying in accommodation where a team of bright young things will be serving up the most amazing Christmas dinner ready in time for when you come back from an epic day on the slopes. Either that or you'll be booked into a nice restaurant, guzzling down some champers, wine, beer (or possibly all three) because you don't need to help clear up or clean up the 100's of pots and pans that cooking such a large meal at home creates. AND... Skiing / Snowboarding burns off so many calories it's almost guilt-free. Winner winner turkey dinner!

3) You get to invite who comes along

No more neighbours popping in unexpectedly, or drop-ins from relatives that you only see at this time of year because you don't really have the time or the inclination to see them for the rest of the year. This ski holiday is all about you (and a handful of like-minded family or friends). No need to entertain the masses chez toi, just tell them "see you next year" as you pack your suitcase, your skis, boots and goggles.

4) You're pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas

It's the Alps, it snows in December, enough said.

5) The pistes are less busy

If you have a penchant for Bollinger Vielles Vignes or Courvoisier L’Esprit then it won't be a cheap trip BUT in pretty much every resort you'll find great deals on accommodation, travel, transfers, ski hire, ski passes, spas... the list goes on.

7) Use up the last few days of your 2015 holiday

If you've been working too hard all year and not managed to use up all your holidays, now's the right time to get your December ski trip booked. Why use up your last few days on a 'staycation', you'll have heaps more fun in the Alps! You're worth it...

8) It's easy to get to Tignes

With lots of additional flights available in the winter season, snow trains, great coach and airport transfer companies to help you, there's no excuse to stay at home, come here instead!

9) The nightlife is great

If sitting around drinking the last of the table wine and port at Christmas doesn't really float your boat, you could be having a whole lot more fun in the bars and restaurants of Tignes. With live music, DJ's, a lively apres ski scene and lots of fun things going on in Tignes during Christmas week, you won't be stuck for things to do. Do you really want to be stuck at home watching the Queen's speech?!

10) El Nino might bring us the mother of all winters

If the forecasters are correct then we could be due the biggest, most snow-laden, dump-tastic winter in quite a few years. There could be powder-days a-plenty, races to get first lifts and fresh tracks and lots of face-ache from grinning so much about how much of an epic season it's turning out to be...
