Snow Report 5/1/23, Tignes
New year, new snow! Oh yes and we can see plenty of new snow in the forecast. When we put together the snow report last week, it was a strange mixture of snow and rain throughout the mid and lower levels of Tignes. Amazingly, the warm temperatures and rain have not totally destroyed the snow conditions and the piste groomers have been doing an incredible job keeping the lower pistes skiable. Now things are looking up as temperatures drop and good new snowfall is forecast.
So after a week of milder temperatures and a distinct lack of new snow, it is really good to be able to report that we are looking forward to the isotherm dropping from Saturday and big dumps of snow from Sunday.
Tignes is currently forecast to get 25cm of snow on Sunday at mid height (2506m) and another 18cm on Monday, with maybe another wave of snow coming through on Wednesday. The minimum temperatures will drop to around -12°C with the freezing level down to around 350m by Monday.
So hang in there for another few days and fingers crossed we will all be rewarded for our patience!
As of today there are 52 out of 137 runs open. Check below and before you go out which lifts and runs are open each day.
