Hotel Guide to Tignes

Discover insights about Tignes hotels

Updated

Tignes is predominantly an apartment resort, but the number and variety of hotels on offer is gradually increasing, as is their luxury in a resort that feels more and more upmarket. Pretty much all of the hotel accommodation in Tignes has excellent access to the slopes and, if you stay in Val Claret or Le Lac, you’ll also be close to a pretty lively après ski scene.

Hotels vs chalets & apartments

Chalets and apartments are usually the most popular accommodation options when it comes to ski holidays. They tend to offer more room, more flexibility in terms of catering and, sometimes, better prices. However, hotels are also a great choice for those visiting Tignes, especially when you're not coming for a full week.

Why book a hotel room instead of a chalet or an apartment in Tignes?
The answer is simple: because you don't want to stay here for a full week. Even if apartment and chalet companies have recently made their booking requirements more flexible, offering shorter stays especially during the off season, the reality is that most chalets and apartments in Tignes can only be booked for six or seven days. However, with hotels you can customise the length of your stay, from a weekend ski trip to a five-day holiday – it's your choice.

Hotels also tend to offer extended services and facilities: gourmet restaurants, spas, swimming pools, fitness rooms, tennis courts, cycle and/or ski hire, flexible catering options... the choices are endless.

Luxury hotels in Tignes

Tignes boasts not one but three hotels awarded with the highest rating. They offer plenty of grandiose glamour, palatial premises, beautiful bars and restaurants, and fully-equipped spas.

Our 3 favourite luxury hotels in Tignes
These are the Tignes hotels that, in our opinion, stand out from the rest thanks to their top-range facilities and services:

1. Les Suites du Nevada Hotel
The first five-star hotel to open its doors in Tignes was Les Suites du Nevada, back in 2008. Offering large suites, a fine restaurant and a fully-equipped spa, it rapidly became a hit with visitors to this unique ski area.

2. Les Suites du Montana Hotel
Les Suites du Montana followed. Made up of five Savoyard-style chalets, this hotel boasts accommodation for two to four people as well as a brand new gourmet restaurant and a spa complete with beauty treatments and massages.

3. Le Diamond Rock Hotel
Finally, it was the turn of Le Diamond Rock Hotel. Located at the foot of the pistes in Tignes Le Lac, this hotel is perfect for a luxury family ski trip as it has a kid's area and games toom. Two restaurants serving fine cuisine and traditional Savoyard dishes are also on offer, as is a panoramic bar offering views of the resort and the surrounding mountains. The spa has treatments by La Maison du Tui Na, as well as a sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi and Nordic bath.
