Le Bowling Activity Review

Trying to avoid gutterballs in Tignes' bowling alley

If you are looking for a fun afternoon/evening and a great way to humiliate yourself, the bowling alley in Tignes is just the place. Or it was for me. Not having bowled in quite some time I forgot how embarrassing this sport can be.

That being said, heading to the bowling alley with some friends or the family is always a fun time - win or lose. Le Bowling in Le Lac is the perfect place to head after a day on the slopes, if the weather is keeping you off the hill or if you just want to work your bowling skills. There is something very enjoyable about chucking a giant heavy ball towards some pins...or just laughing at your friends fail miserably (like me).

Le Bowling de Tignes is situated in Le Lac beside Tignespace. There are ten lanes and a good selection of bowling balls for both kids and adults. The venue also features a bar, pool table and video games. On a Saturday evening, you will find a great vibe at the lanes with great music and a mixed crowd of families (babies to grandparents), seasonnaires and holidaymakers.

For those with young families, they can put up the guards on your lane so your youngest doesn't throw a gutter ball every time. Unfortunately, my team did not opt for these safety measures. And instead, played the adult version of the game where you do a shot of Genepi every time you throw a gutter ball. Let's just say my bowling technique did not improve throughout the game.

To play a game, it will cost you 10€ per person and shoe hire is included in the price. This is a great activity if you are trying to keep costs down on your holiday - lots of fun to be had but at a lower price. Unless you start getting into the shots...If you are with a bigger group, you can take over two lanes and make a night of it as the lanes are open until 02:00.

For the older crowd, you can head over to Jacks Club after you have bowled a few games and have had enough to drink. The nightclub is located right beside the bowling alley and is open from 23:00 until 04:00. Be sure to have a few drinks before you arrive, but be ready to dance the night away once you arrive. Jacks Club can get pretty hot and sweaty, but it's a definite must-do for anyone looking to get their party on in Tignes.
