Who said that ski holidays can’t be relaxing too? With luxury hotels and apartments in abundance all over Tignes you’re never too far away from a spa for some much needed pampering and relaxation.

It’s been another incredible week of skiing in the Espace Killy! With high winds and the associated high avalanche risk last week we had to think very hard about where and when to ski.

The middle of winter is still a great time for an outdoor market – especially in France. If you haven’t been to check out the bi-weekly market in Le Lac yet, I suggest you make it part of your next shopping excursion. It’s full of delicious foods and fun finds.

‘Is this real life?’ This was the question I kept asking myself as I flew over Tignes, in total awe, in a tiny flying machine. Strapped into a seat just behind the pilot, with nothing to really hold onto and no walls/windows around me, I felt a little terrified, excited, and all the unbelievable sensations of flying. Going for a flight in a pendular microlight is not something I thought I would ever do, but it was probably one of the coolest things I have ever done.

We’ve had another period of calm and settled conditions over the past week with a little snow (5cm) on Friday night which topped things up nicely. I’ve been out doing much less ski-touring over the week and much more lift served side country skiing as the off piste conditions from the lifts have been so great.

January is well under way, so it might be a good time to hit the gym and start working on those New Years resolutions you've been talking about. The Tignes fitness centre at Le Lagon is a great place to start. Whether you are a seasonnaire or just here on holiday, an afternoon or evening at the gym might be just the thing to start a 2015.

It's been an incredibly busy week here in the Espace Killy, with French and British half term coinciding it’s definitely been prime time to slap on the skins and go for a walk to escape the holiday crowds.

This Wednesday evening brought the first session of yoga to Tignes Espace. This season yoga instructor Ady Hayhoe plans to run yoga sessions every Wednesday in the brand new Tignes Espace for an hour starting at 19.00.

If you are looking for a fun afternoon/evening and a great way to humiliate yourself, the bowling alley in Tignes is just the place. Or it was for me. Not having bowled in quite some time I forgot how embarrassing this sport can be. 

What can be more fun than spending an hour of your day jumping around like a kid? Not much! (Well maybe finding some sweet fresh powder).
