A rustic refuge that is open and guarded from mid-June to mid-September
The refuge is a former Alpine chalet that was built in 1930 and was purchased by the Vanoise National Park in 1972.
Located in the heart of the park, it is accessible only on foot.
The shelter has a variety of basic amenities: a wood stove, two gas hobs, double sink, a water treatment with UV, everything needed for cooking, cleaning supplies, mattresses, blankets and pillows (although you should provide your own sheet or liner).
The refuge has 23 beds - please note that bivouac is not allowed. Half board is provided with a good hearty evening meal, usually served between 19:00 and 19:30. At the time of booking, remember to specify if you want to take half board.
The refuge is open in summer for hikers and walkers to enjoy, and the rest of the year it is unguarded but open for shelter with blankets, wood and gas available.
In winter you'll need to bring your own water supply.
