Tignes is still very much delivering proper ski conditions as March draws to a close, with its high altitude doing most of the heavy lifting. The glacier and upper slopes are holding their winter feel well into the day, while lower areas are starting to show more of a spring character in the afternoons. There is a steady and dependable feel across the resort right now, with plenty of terrain open and a consistent base underfoot.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently around 120 to 160 cm at resort level, with between 250 and 350 cm higher up across the glacier and upper slopes. There has been very little fresh snowfall in recent days, with only light dustings at altitude that have not significantly refreshed the surface. Despite this, the snowpack remains deep and well established across the entire ski area.
Temperatures have been ranging from minus 9 to minus 3 degrees on the glacier, while resort level has been seeing daytime highs of around plus 3 to plus 8 degrees. The freezing level has been fluctuating between 2200 and 2600 metres, dropping overnight and allowing for a reliable refreeze. Winds have generally been light, with occasional moderate gusts across the highest exposed areas.
Skiing conditions are strong in the mornings, with firm, well groomed pistes offering good grip and consistency. As the day progresses, the snow softens into a more forgiving spring surface. Higher altitude areas, particularly around Grande Motte, continue to provide the most reliable conditions throughout the day, while lower slopes become heavier and more variable by mid afternoon.
